Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book ahead?

Yes, advance booking is essential as spaces on each tour are limited. Smaller group sizes help create a more relaxed and enjoyable experience for everyone.

What is included in the ticket price?

Your ticket includes all scheduled food and drink tastings, along with a guided walking tour exploring the history, stories, and character of Carlingford.

Can I book or pay on the day?

We recommend booking online in advance of the tour date. This allows us to coordinate with our restaurant partners and ensure everything is prepared for your visit.

What if it is raining?

Being Ireland, we know the weather can be unpredictable. Tours run rain or shine, with all food and drink stops taking place indoors. We recommend dressing for the conditions and bringing a rain jacket or umbrella just in case.

How many stops are included?

The tour includes a number of carefully selected food and drink stops around Carlingford. Full details of the tastings and venues can be found within the tour information.

What time does the tour begin?

Tours begin at 2:30pm and finish at approximately 5:30pm. We recommend arriving around 10 minutes early to allow time for check in.

Where is the meeting point?

Guests should meet on the green beside the Carlingford Play Park. Your guide will be easy to spot wearing an orange hat.

Is there much walking involved?

The experience includes a guided stroll through Carlingford’s historic streets and landmarks. The overall walking distance is approximately XX km, so comfortable footwear is recommended.

Are children allowed on the tour?

Yes, children are welcome on the tour. However, guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times, as some tour stops may serve alcohol. Alcohol will only be served to guests aged 18 years or over.

What can I expect from the experience?

Carlingford Food Tours combines local flavours with local history, giving guests the chance to experience the town in a unique and authentic way. Along the route, you will visit local venues, sample regional food and drinks, and hear stories connected to Carlingford’s rich past.

Our tours are designed to feel relaxed, social, and welcoming, with a focus on great food, local culture, and genuine experiences. While groups are welcome, this is not a party or pub crawl style tour. We ask all guests to be respectful to fellow guests, venue staff, and tour guides throughout the experience.
